Keynote: Delivering a smart city cluster in the Thames Valley
About Rob & Simon
Rob has over 25 years of experience in the field of traffic and transportation from urban traffic management and control through to transport planning of major developments. For the last 15 years Rob has led the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) business within PBA providing expert advice on a range of projects from strategy development for local authorities and private development through to the technical specification of systems. He has a keen interest in working at the leading edge of technology development and has developed funding opportunities for a wide range of R&D and knowledge exchange projects from public transport to connected and autonomous vehicles and services for disabled users. Within PBA Rob has taken an active role in the transport innovation group to share knowledge on the transport disruptors that will transform the way we travel.
Recently Rob has developed his role out of transport, which has been reflected in his recent smart technology role, and has secured funding for the public sector around the internet of things (IoT) and smart cities, addressing both technological and institutional barriers to delivery. Within PBA he is embarking on working cross sector to identify opportunities to use IoT across our business solutions where it will add value. Rob is also excited by the PBA’s recent acquisition by Stantec and the opportunities that it opens up.
Simon is Network Manager at Reading Borough Council.
